You find them standing near the village road, giving loud instructions to the men at work. But move a little, you find them hunched in a chore, that is but a way of life. You find many contemplative of the difficult past. She is the Sundari of the Sundarbans – but her future is not so sundar. For crime against women is highest (in India) in rural West Bengal…all for a state with a woman chief minister. In another village, another girl was gang raped by 13 men in Jan’14 – a punishment as she met a guy outside her caste. Let us remove our blindfolds, And give her the right to smile.
